What are rubber profiles?

Rubber profiles are extruded rubber products with a continuous cross-section, supplied on a roll or cut to length. They are used where a long, consistent shape is required to seal, damp or protect — for example glazing profiles between glass and frame, door seals, cable-entry profiles, edge protection or vibration-damping profiles.

Rubber profiles vary depending on:

  • Shape and cross-section – determines the application (U-profile, T-profile, O-profile, hollow profile, sponge rubber, …)
  • Type of rubber – determines chemical resistance, temperature range and weather resistance
  • Construction – solid rubber, sponge/cellular rubber (open or closed cell) or co-extrusion (combination of two compounds in one profile)

At CC Rubber every profile project starts with a discussion about the operating environment and the required sealing or damping performance. Based on that we advise the correct type, the appropriate material composition and the suitable processing.

Our rubber profile types

CC Rubber supplies rubber profiles in various designs and applications:

  • Glazing profiles
For a secure and airtight seal between glass and window or door frames. They damp vibrations and prevent water and air infiltration. Available in standard versions from our range (EPDM, solid rubber, Shore 65–70, supplied on rolls) or custom-made according to your specifications.
  • Sealing profiles for windows, doors and enclosures
Profiles that close airtight and provide sound damping between moving and fixed parts. Used in industrial construction, machine building and in industrial enclosure construction for control cabinets, panels and housings.
  • U-, T-, O- and P-profiles
Standard shapes for edge finishing, protection of sharp edges, cable feed-through and general sealing. Available in various rubber types and hardnesses.
  • Sponge/cellular rubber profiles
Profiles made from sponge/cellular rubber (open or closed cell) for soft, deformable seals. Used where low pressure and high compression are required such as in machine construction, cabinet doors and noise insulation.
  • Co-extrusion profiles
Profiles composed of two compounds in one extrusion, e.g. a hard EPDM fixing section combined with a soft sponge-rubber sealing lip. Suitable for more complex sealing profiles where different functions are combined in a single profile.
  • Profiles to drawing / full custom-made solutions
For specific sealing or damping challenges we deliver profiles fully to drawing, in the desired shape, rubber type and hardness.

Which rubber type for which profile?

A specific set of rubber types is used for rubber profiles. The choice depends on the application environment and the desired service life:

  • EPDM (ethylene-propylene-diene monomer rubber)
The most used rubber type for profiles. Excellent resistance to water, water vapor, ozone and UV radiation. Standard choice for glazing profiles, window seals, door seals and all outdoor applications. Also available in FDA-compliant grades for food applications and as sponge rubber for softer seals.
  • TPE (thermoplastic elastomer)
Thermoplastic variant with rubber-like properties, easy to process and recyclable. Used for profiles where production efficiency and reuse matter. Also available in FDA-compliant versions for food applications and as TPE sponge rubber.
  • NBR (acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber)
For profiles in contact with oils, greases and fuels. Used in machine building, automotive and hydraulic systems, and for sealing profiles in oil-containing environments.
  • CR (neoprene / polychloroprene)
Profiles with balanced resistance to ozone, weathering and oil. Used where both weather and oil resistance are required, and in maritime applications.
  • VMQ (silicone rubber)
Profiles for extreme temperatures (-55°C to +220°C). FDA-compliant grades for food and pharmaceutical applications. Used for sealing profiles in ovens, sterilization processes and high-temperature installations.

Unsure which rubber type suits your profile project? Our rubber experts will advise you based on application, environment and expected service life.

Glazing profiles from our standard range

In addition to custom profiles, CC Rubber offers an extensive standard range of glazing profiles for direct ordering. These profiles are frequently used by joiners, glass and façade builders and installers in window and door production. Standard specifications of our glazing profile range:

  • Material: EPDM solid rubber
  • Hardness: Shore 65 to 70
  • Color: black
  • Roll lengths: 30, 100 or 200 meters, depending on the profile
  • Various cross-sections for different glass and frame thicknesses

The complete range of glazing profiles with product codes and cross-sections is available online for direct ordering. For non-standard shapes, dimensions or colors we deliver glazing profiles made to measure.

Why customers choose
CC Rubber

  • Technical advice

Each profile project starts with a technical consultation with our specialists. Shape, rubber type, hardness, sponge or solid rubber, co-extrusion, … As rubber experts since 1967 we collaborate from the first drawing to the final profile.
  • Fast delivery

Short lines and efficient follow-up ensure fast lead times. Standard profiles within a few working days, custom profiles according to a schedule that fits your project timeline.
  • Extensive expertise

Whether you order a standard glazing profile or develop a complex co-extrusion profile to drawing: CC Rubber masters the entire process, from material advice to final delivery.
  • Certified compliance

ISO 9001:2015 certified. For specific applications we deliver, based on manufacturer certificates, profiles in grades that meet the requirements of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), EU 1935/2004 and REACH.

Sectors and applications

CC Rubber supplies rubber profiles to industrial customers across Europe. Some sectors we regularly work for:
